Good News In College Sports Updates

If you haven't checked out my new blog, Good News In College Sports, here's what you've missed this week:

o University of Maryland student-athletes competing against each other to see who can do the most for the community.

o Georgia Tech's student-athletes raising over $6,000 and collecting 1,500 toys in the school's 6th annual toy drive.

o The story of the Frazee triplets, who all play for the Liberty women's basketball team.

o Charles Green, a linebacker at Henderson State University, emerging as a leader on the field and for his family off the field.

o Clemson's Ray Ray McElrathbey Winning the FedEx Orange Bowl Courage Award for stepping up to care for his younger brother.

o The story of University of Washington Johnny DuRocher, who is making a good recovery from recent brain surgery to remove a tumor.

o Clemson's Anthony Waters, who will soon graduate, receiving inspiration from his older brother who is serving a life sentence in prison.

After Conrad is diagnosed and released from the hospital, he finds life a bit different and doesn't immediately take to it very well and his friendship with Freddie becomes strained. Also, we find out what Freddie inherited from Father Ferret.

Conrad has his hands even more full that usual in this week's episode. He tries to right the sinking ship of a water polo team, then winds up in the hospital and learns all too well that there are those worse off than he is.

201 Points in a College Basketball Game

That's right, 201 points! The Lincoln University Lions, a Division III school in Pennsylvania, set NCAA D III records for most points in a game and a half (104 points) in their 201-78 victory over Ohio State-Marion. The Lions are the #11 ranked team in D III and were led by guard Sam Wylie who knocked down 21 three-pointers (also a D III record) on his way to 69 points.

Lincoln's margin of victory was also an NCAA record. Troy, then in Division II, holds the all-time NCAA single-game scoring record with 258 points vs. DeVry, Ga. in 1992.

Ohio State-Marion competes in the non-NCAA Ohio Regional Campus Conference, a drop down even for a D III school. I'd be a lot more impressed with Lincoln's record if they had put those numbers up on a team in their same classification.
